Welcome to Alliance Manchester Business School! Please follow the steps below to ensure that you’re fully set-up, connected and ready to settle into life as a student here in Manchester.

Our main means of contact with you is by email so it is essential that you check your University of Manchester email account on a daily basis. Otherwise, you might miss important information, eg about your timetable, option choices or examinations.

  • Once you've activated your IT account you'll be able to complete the registration process. You need to do this to ensure that you don’t miss out on important information.
  • Follow us on Instagram @AMBSPostgrad for the latest news and information.
  • Find out about advice and support. It's okay to be nervous, everyone needs to settle in to their new surroundings.
  • Arriving late? If you know that you will not be in Manchester by Monday, 22 September 2025, please let us know and also let the accommodation office know if you have reserved halls of residence accommodation.
  • You will be enrolled onto your courses in the next few weeks and then you will be able to see your personalised timetable via My Manchester. Teaching starts on Monday, 29 September 2025. If you have any optional course choices you will be contacted soon about making your choices.
  • Canvas is the University’s digital learning environment. You will use Canvas to access online teaching material for your course units, in addition to interactive elements to assist your learning. Some Canvas spaces enable you to interact with other students as well as academic staff. Canvas can be used to submit work online and to receive feedback on this work once it has been marked.   • My Learning Essentials: The Library provides a comprehensive programme of online skills resources, workshops and drop in support clinics throughout the year designed to help you to develop your academic and employability skills. The University of Manchester Library is one of only five National Research Libraries. With more than 4 million printed books and manuscripts, over 41,000 electronic journals and 500,000 electronic books, as well as several hundred databases, the library is one of the best-resourced academic libraries in the country.   • Feedback & Enquiries: For general enquiries, e-resources support and/or to feedback suggestions please contact the library in person, via phone or online.
  • The International Society has more than 6,000 members from more than 130 different countries, making it a great place to meet friends and make contacts during your stay. Its members, many of whom have themselves experienced living away from their native country, aim to ensure students have a rewarding experience in the UK. The society arranges a range of weekly socials, large events and weekend trips around the UK.
  • Complete the BMAN61230 Health and Safety Induction course via Canvas.
  • Read the Welcome message from the Vice-President and Dean of the Faculty of Humanities.
  • Watch the Welcome and Introduction to PGT Study from Dr Adam Frost, the Director of Postgraduate Taught Programmes at AMBS.
