A guide to master’s rankings and surveys

We recognise that rankings and alumni employment statistics play an important role in the reputation of the School and impact prospective and current students, employers and, of course, our alumni.

After graduating you may be asked to take part in a number of surveys. By completing these surveys you will help us to continually improve our services and ensure external providers have data that is representative of your class when compiling rankings.

This guide gives an overview of each of the surveys you may be asked to complete and a time-frame indicating when you will be asked to complete them.

All of the surveys are completed online and accessed via an email link, so please do keep us updated with your preferred email address.

Destinations of Leavers from Higher Education (DLHE) Survey

The Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA) DLHE survey, collects information on all successful leavers of UK universities between four and six months after graduation.

The data is collected using an online questionnaire which is defined by HESA, but which is managed locally by The University of Manchester Careers Service. The survey asks for details of your employment status and/or further study on a specific census date.

The University uses the data for statistical, research and promotional purposes. It enables us to recognise the achievements of our graduates, understand the effectiveness of your higher education experience and to help other students plan their futures.

  • Who is surveyed? - All successful graduates
  • When will you be surveyed? - Between April and June in the year following your graduation
  • How to complete the survey - An online link to the survey will be sent by The University of Manchester Careers Service to your email address. You may also receive a phone call by our team of ‘callers’ who follow up on gathering information.
