Summer attendance requirements for MSc students
The below applies to all AMBS MSc students except for those studying on MSc Management programme. For guidance regarding the MSc Management programme please see further below.
The University is adopting a more flexible approach to attendance over the Summer, in line with the latest guidance from the Home Office. You will be required to confirm where you will be studying from during the Summer via an online web form (which will be made available nearer the time) and attend two in-person check-ins, one during the assessment period and the other during the dissertation submission period.
To maintain your Student visa sponsorship and eligibility for the Graduate route, you must complete all three checkpoints detailed below within the specified timeframes:
You will need to check in at either the AMBS Student Support Hub (room 2.091 on the second floor of AMBS) or the front desk of the Main Library between 28 May and 4 June to verify that you are still in the UK.
This check-in is necessary to adhere to UKVI guidance, which requires Students route visa holders to be physically present during assessment periods, regardless of whether assessments are conducted online.
An online web form will be made available for you to complete and confirm your primary study location for the Summer. This form will be sent to you in time for completion from 5 June and must be submitted by 7 July, even if you plan to remain in Manchester.
If you move somewhere that is more than a reasonable commutable distance away from Manchester, the Student Immigration Team will notify UKVI of this change. This report will not impact your Student visa status or eligibility for the Graduate route.
You will need to check in again at either the AMBS Student Support Hub (room 2.091 on the second floor of AMBS) or the front desk of the Main Library between 25 August and 5 September to confirm you are still in the UK for the submission of your dissertation.
Early Submissions
You will still need to attend the final check-in even if you submit your dissertation earlier in August. If you submit your final assessment before August, you will be considered to have completed your studies early. In this case, we are required to notify UKVI and withdraw sponsorship for your Student visa. You should only submit your final assessment early if you plan to leave and complete outside the UK and are willing to give up both your Student visa and eligibility for the Graduate route.
Failure to complete one or more of these checkpoints may result in the withdrawal of your Student visa sponsorship unless you provide valid evidence of exceptional circumstances, such as hospitalisation.
This may lead to the curtailment of your visa by UKVI, ineligibility to apply for the Graduate route visa, and the need to obtain an Electronic Travel Authorisation or Standard Visitor Visa if you wish to attend your graduation ceremony.
If you have any questions, please contact the Student Immigration Team (visa@manchester.ac.uk).
MSc Management students
Please read all the information below carefully to ensure you understand what you will need to do.
Your in-class attendance will be monitored and you will be required to check in as usual on SEAtS until your final class on 6 August.
There are two coursework submissions due over the summer period – 11 August for BMAN73160 and 28 August for BMAN73150. You are expected to submit all work by the submission deadlines.
You will also be required to attend an in-person check-in at the AMBS Student Support Hub (room 2.091 on the second floor of AMBS) or the Main Library, on the week commencing 25 August to confirm you are submitting your final assessment in the UK.
To maintain your Student visa sponsorship and eligibility for the Graduate route, you must follow the above guidance. If you have any questions, please contact the Student Immigration Team (visa@manchester.ac.uk).
